Following the Ecologists Management plan the group has started to clear scrub Trees from the meadow, scrub trees are defined as any tree that has self seeded on the meadow. The reason for removing some scrub trees is to protect the wild flower and rough areas from progressing into a woodland. We can only carry out this work in the months from November to March, at other time we could be disturbing the ground nesting birds and the insect life of the meadow. Some areas are left with there trees in to create rough habitat within the meadow, providing singing posts for birds, nectar & Pollen for insects, Grass stubble for insects, filed mice and hibernation.
The groups latest Scrub Clearance work day was Sunday 12th March 2017.
